image1 ​​The National Women Entrepreneur Council (NWEC), a parastatal body operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare has been set up in 1999. It is the main organisation that provides support and assistance to both potential and existing women entrepreneurs in Mauritius. As at date 5310 women entrepreneurs are registered with the NWEC.

In order to promote economic empowerment of women and encourage the development and growth of women entrepreneurs, the following services are offered by the Council: Information Dissemination and Sensitisation Programmes Counselling International linkage Development (Trade Fairs, Workshop) Training Marketing Local Fairs
